B Is for Bulldozer: A Construction ABC

Chamberlain WD822KD Whisper Drive 1/2-HP Belt Drive Garage Door Opener

>>> BlackFriday Chamberlain WD822KD Whisper Drive 1/2-HP Belt Drive Garage Door Opener

Technical Details

  • Features 1/2-horsepower garage door opener 200-watt security light and two light sockets
  • Anti-vibration system and belt drive ensure quiet operation
  • Rugged steel construction; backed by lifetime warranty on motor and 10-year warranty on belt
  • Includes one opener two three-button remotes and one keyless entry pad
  • Weighs 39 pounds and features three-piece rail for quick installation

I just installed the opener today. Fairly easy to install. I was able to use some of the exisiting hardware from the previous installation so I didn't have to worry about hangers or the wall or door mounts. The settings were pretty close right out of the box for distance and force. This has all the safety features that I was looking for plus it is very quiet. It is below our bedroom so I went with the belt drive. Much quieter than the LiftMaster chain drive it replaced. Besides all the usual bells and whistles that pretty much all the combo sets have (2 openers rolling code outside keypad safety beam eyes) it has a cool feature that lets you add devices from the wall mount so you don't have to get up on a stool or ladder to press the "learn" button on the motor. The 2 100 watt lights are nice and bright. So far no complaints.

I Love Trains

I Love Trains

>>> BlackFriday I Love Trains

If someone in your house loves trains they will find a kindred spirit in the little boy who narrates this delightful book. He tells us what he likes about a passing train ("I like trains that hoot and roar/as they rumble by my door") and the surprise at the end is sweet. Illustrations are bright outlined scenes in a rural setting. Some illustrations are very simple and others are filled with activity. The boy's dad is mentioned and seen in the story nice for kids to see. And as a bonus the endpages show and describe the various kinds of train cars -- the tender and engine a hopper boxcar flatcars a tanker gondolas and the caboose. This is a deceptively simple book that can be a joy and an enrichment for you and your little train lover.

John Deere - Electronic Lawn Mower

John Deere - Electronic Lawn Mower

>>> BlackFriday John Deere - Electronic Lawn Mower

Product Features

  • Interactive lawn mower

  • John Deere

  • Voice prompts to check oil and gas

  • Mower gas and oil sounds rotating grass clippings

  • Fold-down handle for storage

The was the first lawn mower toy I bought for my son (we ended up buying a 2nd mower the Fisher Price lawn mower to replace this one) and it was on sale and now I know why. I bought it at the beginning of the summer when he was 18 months ago. I think they (him and his twin sister) have played with it for a total for 10 minutes. They always choose another lawn mower (we inherited another Fisher Price lawn mower) or toy over this one.

Here are the things I was disappointed about:

1. the handle does not stay up. If my son or me let go of the handle it went right to the ground doesn't seem like a big issue but not much fun for him if I am trying to hand the handle to him and we aren't in synch and he misses the hand off.

2. the body is so tall it is hard to fit in the basket of the stroller to take to the park

3. the sounds are so soft it is hard to hear them if there is any noise in the backyard
